National Safety Solutions

From a local cinema to the most modern, technologically advanced health & safety consultancy and training facility in the Southern Hemisphere.

Cara Interior Project Management undertook the transformation of National Safety Solutions new office in Gladstone, Queensland. Converting an old squash court come cinema, into a state-of-the-art Australian headquarters and indoor training facility.

The facility needed to incorporate elements such as a fully climate controlled indoor environment to enable National Safety Solutions to demonstrate high-risk site simulations in relation to working at height, confined space entry and industrial rope rescue.

Having complete creative scope over the design and fitout, we opted to incorporate industrial elements in the design with no ceilings in the main training rooms and polished concrete floors throughout the practical training areas. Audio visual was essential in all of the training rooms to offer clients access to cutting edge training and technology from some of the nation’s most experienced and qualified instructors. Large projector screens and a state-of-the-art sound system were also required to allow the client to engage in interactive training sessions.

Along with the internal components of the building needing to look the part, the client requested the existing external façade and original overgrown landscaped area be upgraded. With existing trees, shrubs and turf in need of rehabilitation, we engaged local landscaper Lanyonscapes to provide some experience in bringing the garden back to life. Nature was not making the job any easier during a winter that was providing an unseasonal cold to the local area. New signage was also designed to give the premises maximum coverage on a prominent corner of Gladstone area.

In total the project size was approx. 1200 square meters broken up into interactive training rooms, practical training room, meeting rooms, offices, client break-out areas, reception and also incorporating a first floor live-in apartment for management.
